About This Tool
Dots and Boxes is a classic pen-and-paper game for two players. The game starts with an empty grid of dots. Players take turns adding a single horizontal or vertical line between two unjoined adjacent dots. A player who completes the fourth side of a 1x1 box earns one point and must take another turn. The game ends when no more lines can be drawn, and the player with the most boxes wins. It's a game of simple rules but deep strategy!
How to Use
- Player 1 (Blue) starts. Click on any grey, empty line between two dots to claim it.
- Players take turns drawing one line at a time.
- If your line completes a box, the box will be filled with your color, you'll score a point, and you MUST take another turn.
- Keep playing until all lines on the grid have been drawn.
- The player with the most boxes at the end of the game is the winner!
- Click "New Game" to start over at any time. You can also change the grid size.
