About This Tool

Dots and Boxes is a classic pen-and-paper game for two players. The game starts with an empty grid of dots. Players take turns adding a single horizontal or vertical line between two unjoined adjacent dots. A player who completes the fourth side of a 1x1 box earns one point and must take another turn. The game ends when no more lines can be drawn, and the player with the most boxes wins. It's a game of simple rules but deep strategy!

How to Use
  1. Player 1 (Blue) starts. Click on any grey, empty line between two dots to claim it.
  2. Players take turns drawing one line at a time.
  3. If your line completes a box, the box will be filled with your color, you'll score a point, and you MUST take another turn.
  4. Keep playing until all lines on the grid have been drawn.
  5. The player with the most boxes at the end of the game is the winner!
  6. Click "New Game" to start over at any time. You can also change the grid size.
